Introducing Just Whisky Auctions

With the addition of Just Whisky Auctions, Whiskystats continues to expand its coverage of the secondary whisky market. These additional historical results reveal important further insights, while the monthly live auctions provide new buying opportunities.

Just Whisky Auctions is an online auction platform from Dunfermline, Scotland. Since the first auction, held in June 2015, close to 117.000 lots have been on offer. These lots included 93.000 single whisky bottle lots, from which Whiskystats identified 18.000 unique whiskies. The Whiskystats database now counts 1,4 million historical price observations.

From this point forward, Whiskystats will identify the whiskies on offer in the monthly live auctions at Just Whisky Auctions before the auction closes. This provides direct access to historical auction results, current retail prices, and whisky ratings to the Whiskystats members. With the Auction Notifications functionality, members can receive an email when a whisky of interest becomes available at Just Whisky Auctions or any other covered auction house.

Macallan Focused

In 2022, Whiskystats identified 12.333 bottles of whisky traded on Just Whisky Auctions. Macallan accounts for 14% of those. In the overall market, i.e. on all covered auction houses combined, Macallan is at 12%. From that perspective, Macallan is overrepresented on Just Whisky Auctions.

The most expensive whisky traded at Just Whisky Auctions in 2022 was the Macallan 40-year-old. With the buyer price at around 34.000 Euros, this trade marked a new record price for the bottle across all covered auction platforms. The Macallan Sir Peter Blake release was traded 142 times in 2022, which makes it the most-traded whisky at Just Whisky Auctions. For more auction highlights, visit the auction house page.

The buyer fee at Just Whisky Auctions is 10%, while the seller’s commission is set at 5%, which drops to 0% if the bottle sells for more than 1.500 GBP. For sellers, there is a listing fee of 3 GBP and an additional 5 GBP for lots with a reserve price. These auction fees are comparable to the market averages, as seen in the whisky auction houses overview.
